No tender will necessarily be accepted and late tenders will not be considered. Tenderers should be aware that a general election has been called in Tasmania for 18 March 2006. This means that the current Government has assumed a caretaker role. This role lasts until the election result is clear or until a new government is appointed. One of the conventions applying during this time is that a government in a caretaker role cannot make major policy decisions, enter into major contracts or make other significant commitments that will bind the incoming government. Potential tenderers should note that it is possible that this project might not proceed due to a decision of the newly elected government.
