The Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment invites submissions from suitably qualified and experienced consultants to develop a GIS-based user interface to provide easy access to the Conservation of Freshwater Ecosystem Values (CFEV) database. The CFEV database holds spatial data on the identification and prioritisation of ecological values associated with freshwater-dependent ecosystems across Tasmania. The consultancy will design an interface that is user-friendly and allows data interrogation and analyses to be conducted specific to the needs of our corporate users.

Quoters should be aware that a general election has been called in Tasmania for 18 March 2006. This means that the current Government has assumed a caretaker role. This role lasts until the election result is clear or until a new government is appointed. One of the conventions applying during this time is that a government in a caretaker role cannot make major policy decisions, enter into major contracts or make other significant commitments that will bind the incoming government. Potential quoters should note that it is possible that this project might not proceed due to a decision of the newly elected government.
