The Department invites tenders from suitably qualified persons:
for appointment by the Treasurer to be the Actuary for the purposes of the
Retirement Benefits Act 1993 and the Retirement Benefits Regulations 2005; and
to provide other actuarial services to Tasmanian Government agencies and
authorities as required.
The successful Tenderer will be required to undertake the various functions and
duties of the Actuary under the Retirement Benefits Act 1993 and the Retirement
Benefits Regulations 2005, including the completion of a triennial
investigation into the state and sufficiency of the Retirement Benefits Fund
(RBF). The next investigation will commence in the 2010-11 financial year.
The successful Tenderer will be required to provide actuarial advice and
analysis, on both a regular and periodic basis, for Tasmanian Government
agencies and authorities. Advice will primarily be required by the Department
and the RBF Board, and will chiefly concern Tasmanian public sector
superannuation.
