The Department of Health proposes to engage a building contractor to construct a state-of-the-art purpose-built mental health facility at St John’s Park in New Town, Tasmania. The new facility will provide access to ‘best practice’ contemporary care at the appropriate level of acuity, as part of an integrated service delivery model. It will house both  the Southern Mental Health Beds Development (SMHBD), an Eating Disorders Treatment Centre, known as the Tasmanian Eating Disorders Service (TEDS), Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and a general staff office area for the Statewide Mental Health Service (SMHS).
