The Cape Hauy Track is one of Tasmania's 60 Great Short Walks, and one of the most popular day walks in the Tasman National Park. The Parks and Wildlife Service is planning to upgrade the entire 4.7kms of the track to the Class 3 standard for Walking Tracks (AS 2156.1and 2156.2). This Request for Quote is for the supply only of 760 tonnes of gravel and 500 tonnes of selected rocks. The gravel and rocks will be two separate contracts.

The importation and control of weeds (including Phytophthora cinnamomi) into the Tasman National Park is to be carefully avoided. All material from quarries must be tested and proven to be free of weeds and be thoroughly cleaned of mud and other loose material. The supplier will be required to deliver the gravel and rocks from the quarry to one of two depots within land adjacent to the Tasman National Park ready for airlifting. Potential Tenderers shall be deemed to be thouroughly conversant with the remoteness of the site and the environmental sensitivity of the area sorrounding the track. It is strongly recommended that all potential Tenderers visit the site prior to tendering to aquaint themselves with the site constraints. Prospective Tenerers are invited to attend a briefing from 9:30-11AM, Thursday 21 April 2011. RSVP to Ben Clark, by Wednesday 20 April 2011.
