Due to recent Civil Aviation Safety Authority rule changes, a new heliport at Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is required to provide continuity of aeromedical response capabilities in the Northern region of Tasmania.
An elevated Helicopter Landing Site (HLS) will be constructed on top of the LGH Cleveland St multi-storey carpark. The HLS has been ordered and is due to arrive onsite in coming months. A new lift (accessed via an air bridge) is also required to enable safe and efficient patient transfer from the HLS and into Level 2 of the LGH. For timely install of the lift at same time of construction of the HLS, the Department of Health is seeking approval to direct source a fit for purpose lit from a reputable lift manufacturer. The new lift will be folded into the construction contract as a ‘Principal supplied item’.
