The objectives of BREP are to:

  • help Tasmanian SMEs reduce their consumption of resources, minimise waste streams and resultant greenhouse gas emissions;
  • reduce operating costs and drive productivity gains; and
  • provide SMEs with practical and tailored information regarding ways to improve their resource efficiency.

BREP will:

  • Deliver a range of outputs including seminars, workshops, physical or virtual site visits, one-on-one mentoring and the preparation of resource material (including case studies) for online publication.
  • Provide participants with targeted, cost effective and practical strategies to improve their resource efficiency.
  • Leverage the existing networks of former BREP participants, regional bodies, peak industry groups and Chambers of Commerce, to identify networks of eligible SMEs for the program in at least two suitable regions.
  • Strengthen existing networks of SMEs to facilitate knowledge sharing and build resilience to a changing climate.
  • Raise awareness in the Tasmanian business community, of resource efficiency opportunities, process optimisation and lean manufacturing approaches, and address common ‘soft barriers’.
  • Improve the competitiveness of Tasmanian SMEs in the low-carbon economy.
  • Help Tasmanian SMEs to be agile, adaptive and leverage potential opportunities from a changing climate.
  • Complement existing State-funded business programs.
  • State-wide
