The Lyell Highway (A0197) between Queenstown and Strahan provides a social and commercial connectivity transport route linking residents and businesses between townships of Queenstown to Strahan. Strahan is also an iconic Tasmanian tourism destination.

The first stage of this project will deliver passing lanes in both directions and stopping bays in a number of locations to provide safe locations for passing and opportunity for road users to pull over.

  • The Work Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme
  • It is a requirement of this project that the builder/s contracted to undertake the building work be accredited under the Work Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme, established under the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) Act 2016, at the time of entering into the contract for the building work and while the building work is being carried out.*
  • The builder/s must comply with all conditions of Scheme accreditation.
  • * Paragraph 26(g) of the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) (Accreditation Scheme) Rules 2019 outlines provisions applying to joint venture arrangements that include accredited and unaccredited builders.
  • Roads and Bridges
  • Only Contractors prequalified with the Department of State Growth under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Roads and Bridge) Contruction Contracts in the Roadworks Category R3 with a Financial Level of F15, or higher, are eligible to tender for this project.
