The Department of State Growth intends to issue a Request for Tender seeking an appropriately experienced and qualified Contractor to deliver the On-Road Travellers Information System (OTIS) and Tasman Bridge Lane Use Management System (LUMS) project.

The scope of the project includes the design and construction of two main components:

  • Replacement of the existing Tasman Bridge lane control system with a new Lane Use Management System (LUMS); and
  • Installation of variable message signs at key locations around greater Hobart to form an On-road Traveller Information System (OTIS).

  • The Work Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme
  • A successful tenderer must be accredited under the Work Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme (WHS Accreditation Scheme) when entering into contracts for building work covered by the WHS Accreditation Scheme and maintain accreditation while the building work is being carried out.*
  • The WHS Accreditation Scheme is established under the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) Act 2016 and specified in the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) (Accreditation Scheme) Rules 2019.
  • A successful tenderer must comply with all conditions of Scheme accreditation.
  • * Paragraph 26(g) of the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) (Accreditation Scheme) Rules 2019 outlines provisions applying to joint venture arrangements that include accredited and unaccredited builders.
  • Roads and Bridges
  • Only Contractors prequalified with the Department of State Growth under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts in the categories of Roadworks Category R5 and with a Financial Level of F10, or higher, are eligible to tender for this Project.

  • A pre tender briefing will be held via Microsoft Teams on Monday 14 December 2020 between 1:30pm and 2:30pm.
  • Tenderers will be required to register their interest in attending by no later than 2.00pm Friday 11 December 2020.
