The Department of Justice seeks expressions of interest from consultants capable of providing the services described below.  The Department will then seek quotations (The value of this procurement is expected to be significantly below the $100,000 required for an open tender) from up to three of the respondents to the EOI for the delivery of the services. 
The Department is currently refining the Business Case for the Criminal Justice Information Management Project.  This project aims to deliver more integrated management of information and services across Tasmanian Justice Agencies.
A critical success factor for the project is the effective sharing of information between systems operated by a range of justice agencies including Police, the DPP, Courts, Corrections and Youth Justice.  The draft Business Case proposes the establishment of an authoritative source for documents issued by those in the Criminal Justice System.
The Department requires expert technical advice on options and best practice in this area.
Advice is sought in four areas:

• Services relating to good practice in the specification and design of  Web Services that can operate within a Service Oriented Architecture;
• Services providing advice to the Department relating to good practice in the use of XML Schemas and related artefacts;
• Services relating to the creation and maintenance of XML schemas to be used by systems within the Criminal Justice System;
• Services relating to the creation of stylesheets for rendering Criminal Justice Schemas into human readable form.
