Mr Phillip A Kimber – Chairman
Phillip Kimber was first appointed as Chairman of the Licensing Board in 1993. Mr Kimber has been working as a legal practitioner since 1980 and is a partner in the law firm Butler McIntyre and Butler in Hobart. He practises law in the area of commercial contractual matters, insolvency, banking and finance, and company practice and litigation.
He brings to the Board’s deliberations a common sense approach to proceedings and an informed perspective of what goes on in the community from a social and economic point of view. He provides a clear application of procedural fairness and a concern at protecting our community from harm that can be associated with the consumption of alcohol.
Ms Kerry Sarten
Kerry Sarten was appointed to the Licensing Board in April 2004. Kerry has a strong background in the finance, tourism and construction industries and is currently employed as Senior Manager – Distribution for HFA Asset Management Ltd in Hobart.
Ms Sarten brings to the Board significant business experience alongside a passionate interest in Tasmania with particular emphasis on the tourism and hospitality industry and the small businesses that drive the Tasmanian economy.
Mr David Logie
David Logie is the most recent addition to the Licensing Board, appointed to replace Louise Finney (member from 1996 to 2007) in June 2007. David is semi-retired and living on the East Coast. He is well known in the Tasmanian hospitality, tourism and gaming industries, employed for 30 years by the Federal Group in its casinos and resorts both here and interstate. David’s last appointment was as General Manager at the Launceston Country Club Resort from 1992 to 2002.
Mr Logie brings a wealth of industry experience to the Board.
